Knock, Knock. Who’s There?—The ATLFF 2018 Comedy Track!... Obviously.

Looking for laughs this festival season? Well look no further than Atlanta Film Festival 2018 comedy films.

Centered at the notorious, radical, laugh-out-loud Dad’s Garage Improv Theater, each film in ATLFF’s Comedy Track was hand selected to work the lungs, diaphragm, and abs in what can only be described as the most enjoyable workout you’ll ever take part in.

First up, fresh off its Sundance run, we have Bridey Elliott’s directorial debut Clara’s Ghost.

This wacky family comedy brings together the talents of Bridey’s family - who are practically an American comedy dynasty if we’re being honest - for a hilarious, awkward, cringey-in-the-best- way portrayal of inter-family conflict. Check out this gem of a film for laughs and a lifelong lesson in what happens when you IGNORE YOUR MOTHER!

Rounding out ATLFF’s 2018 short film collection is our annual comedic block Laughter.

A mish mash of narrative short films, this block is sure to put a smile on your face while also introducing you to the funny side of short form content; full of varying perspectives and a universal hysterical soul.

Time travel, love triangles, a retro-future from your 80s dreams - what more could you ask for from the feature film Peaches?

It’s a classic story of boy loves girl, boy royally f**ks everything up, boy builds a time machine and tries to fix it. Expecting everything to go wrong? Well you’d be right. Pair that with a huge (*wink* *wink*) amount of phallic humor and just a dash of potentially world ending paradoxes, and you’ve got yourself a delightful, uproariously funny time.

Our own hometown heroes, veterans of comedy, master of festival venues are also stretching their own comedic muscles at this year’s festival.

These improv and original content megaminds are sure to provide those deep in your gut, may pull out your back laughs.

So head over to watch the first public screening of a new television pilot, "Weird City," which is an offbeat travel show. Laugh along with a new short film by DGTV produced in collaboration with Jerry's Habima Theatre (a nonprofit working with special needs actors) that has lots of heart and some awesome floor hockey. Finally, the screening will give a sneak peak at a new web series set behind the scenes of the theatre itself, "The Garage."

Let’s be realistic, the look on Clifton Collins Jr. face here says it all. Mother’s Head is about as fun as for its lead as Westworld for Lazlo or Star Trek for Ayel. But let’s also preach the truth here, sometimes it’s that very compounding misery that leads to the funniest stories.

And when you’re talking about a man who finds out that not only is his mother dead, but the nice old Cuban lady was mixed up in some gnarly, criminal sh*t - you have to laugh. It’s just too extreme for anything else.

So join us for some laughter with and at the expense of our glorious protagonist as he tries to figure out what exactly his late momma was into and with who.
