ATLANTA, GA — The Atlanta Film Festival and XFINITY announced today the creation of the Film Festival Collective, a program to showcase the best film festival programming in the Southeast and to foster the discovery of new filmmaking talent from around the world. The XFINITY On Demand program will feature short films and other quality content from a variety of film festivals across the Southeastern United States. The program spans across nine states and is available to millions of XFINITY customers in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.

The Atlanta Film Festival, whose annual event is sponsored by XFINITY, will administer the Film Festival Collective to engage the best festival curators in the South and to deliver the works they select to XFINITY customers. “Since 1978, the Atlanta Film Festival has been one of the South’s preeminent events for independent film,” said ATLFF Executive Director Christopher Escobar. “The Collective presents us with the opportunity to bring the visions of our favorite artists to viewers outside of  Atlanta. At the same time we will bring the curatorial voices of other film festivals in the South to our own fans here at home.”

Filmmakers who participated in previous editions of the Atlanta Film Festival and the other festivals in the Collective  will work with the organization to lend their works to the On Demand collection for a limited time. Films from the festival to be included in the Collective will stretch across genre lines including animation, comedy, documentary, drama, horror, sci-fi, music videos, and beyond. The Film Festival Collective launches with three founding members: the Atlanta Film Festival, The Nashville Film Festival, and the Charleston International Film Festival.

All Film Festival Collective content will be available at no additional cost to XFINITY subscribers within the region. The program is available on both the original Comcast On Demand platform as well as the new X1 platform. With X1, subscribers can access content using voice commands on their smart phone X1 remote control app. "Comcast has a proud tradition of supporting the arts in our communities, and we are fortunate to  offer products that are capable of bringing them closer to our customers," said Walker Anderson, Head of Partnership Marketing in the Comcast Big South Region. "The combination of the Festival Collective program and our new X1 Entertainment Operating System represents an enormous push forward in our ablility to leverage the scale and diversity of content and sources for the enjoyment of the partners and customers we serve."
